PHEW WHAT A SCORCHER!

Rob Sim of What A Palaver has been electrifying crowds with his fire performances for a monumental 40 YEARS! Can you believe it?

Since learning these dangerous skills way back in 1984, he’s truly become a legend as one of the longest running outdoor performers in the UK, having brought joy to innumerable crowds all over the world.

Rob formed What A Palaver in 1993 with his friend Ian Adcock to provide non-stop entertainment through hilarious comedy acts and phenomenal circus tricks. They toured all over, thrilling people of all ages. After Ian retired, Rob has kept the magic alive as a one-man show retaining the What A Palaver name.

Now he’s best known for his historical performances – you might catch him as a jester at amazing places like Dover Castle and numerous other English Heritage sites along with The Tower of London, Lincoln Castle, Sherwood Forest to name but a few. As a contemporary performer he’s appeared at The Stade de France, on Britain’s Got Talent, The Ant and Dec Show, Blue Peter – the list is endless.

Coincidently, 2024 also marks 20 years since Rob’s first English Heritage appearance, blowing everyone away with his breathtaking performance at Wrest Park. Last year Rob took the unprecedented step of bringing on Ben Fraser as the first official jester apprentice in over 500 years, in order to pass down his skills and expertise. With Rob’s guidance and the assistance of The Arts Council and English Heritage, Ben is well on his way to becoming a stellar performer in his own right. It’s fabulous to see Rob paying it forward to the next generation of talent. Here’s to many more years of foolish antics from Rob and his eager protégé!

To mark this momentous occasion, Rob will be touring his new show “40 Years of Fire”, a frightening but fun fearless frenzy of flame. But that’s not all – he will also be performing “40 Not Out”, a manic showcase of stupidity which promises crazy stunts like juggling, walking on stilts, riding a unicycle, and so much more madness.
